Biography Peter Schlipf................................................................................................................ June 2007 I was born in Georgia, USA in 1960 and grew-up in the suburbs of New York City.......................... I travelled across the United States from 1978 to 1988. I also visited Europe several times during the 1960's,'70s and '80s. I became involved in videography in Orlando, Florida during the mid-1980's, videotaping weddings and other events. I also did some aerial photography there as well. That is what inspired me to further explore photography. When I arrived in Denver, Colorado in 1988, I almost immediately began working as a photojournalist at a weekly newspaper. What made the big difference about this press job was that the paper focussed on the "movers and shakers" of the area. Since Denver is the capital of Colorado; there were a lot of big-time movers and shakers around. I also attended the Colorado Institute of Art and took journalism courses at Colorado State University. In 1989, I won a Colorado Press Association Award for Photo Essay. Inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall, I returned to Germany six months after reunification in 1991. I began to photograph the local music scene in Aalen, Germany, which led me to a job at the Aalener Nachrichten Newspaper in 1993. Having travelled extensively across Europe throughout the 1990's, I went back to school in 2000 to earn a certificate in Multi-Media Design. Since then, I have been active in the local music/art scene, doing portraiture, focussing more on advertising photography, and exhibiting my work.
